By the way, I see a really useful project which is up for grabs
right now is a server which hoards mail, inexes it, and fills
in all the back-links so you can follow messages which have
refered to article X, follow a link to people and lists
of messages they have written, etc. The server could
simultaneously handle news, and eliminate the barrier (and
duplication) between the two methods of propogation.
This would be a cool excercise in the management of unruly
information, and a tool which most project managers would jump
at.
